Set a Member Limit for a Club

Use member limits when a club has a fixed number of student spots. Each club can have its own limit, and other clubs can stay unlimited.

Before you start

This setting only appears if member limits are turned on for your school. If you do not see it, contact Club Hub support and ask for club member limits to be enabled.

Set a member limit

  1. Open the club.
  2. Open Edit Club Settings.
  3. Go to Membership Preferences.
  4. Find the field that says Do you want to limit the number of members who can join your club? Leave empty if not.
  5. Type the maximum number of student spots for the club.
  6. Save the club settings.

Leave the field empty if the club should not have a member limit.

What happens when the club reaches the limit

Club Hub counts active, non-faculty memberships for that club.

When the count is equal to or greater than the number you entered, students no longer see the Join Club button for that club. If a join action is still attempted, Club Hub stops it before creating a membership.

A spot opens again when an active student membership is removed, or when the club limit is raised.

There is not currently a separate "club full" message. The join option is hidden when the club is full.

Who counts toward the limit

These count toward the limit:

  • Active student members
  • Student club leaders
  • Students waiting for approval after requesting to join an approval-required club

These do not count toward the limit:

  • Faculty advisors
  • Removed or inactive members

If a club requires approval to join, pending student requests count toward the limit while they are waiting for approval. This helps prevent the club from collecting more student requests than available spaces.

Important notes

Member limits control the standard student self-join flow from the Join Club button.

Admins and club leaders can still manage rosters directly when needed. Invitations, kiosk sign-ups, renewal or import workflows, and other roster-management flows may add members outside the standard self-join limit.

If your school needs a strict hard cap across every way a student can be added to a club, contact Club Hub support before relying on member limits as the only control.
